چکیده

In a previous paper some of us presented the structure and properties new family ionic liquids, ILs, with common cation, 1-butyl-3-methyl imidazolium (the popular [C4C1Im]+ or [BMIM]+) variety anions based in thiocyanate (SCN)−: one reference sample ten anionic metal complexes different valences: AlIII, MnII, FeIII, CrIII, NiII, HgII, ZnII, CoII CuI, resulting, respectively, [BMIM](SCN), [BMIM]3 Al(SCN)6, [BMIM]4 Mn(SCN)6, Fe(SCN)6, Cr(SCN)6, Ni(SCN)6, [BMIM]2 Hg(SCN)4, Zn(SCN)4, Co(SCN)4 Cu(SCN)4. this we show experimental measurements electrical conductivity these ILs broad temperature range (about 90 K). Viscosity has been measured for six compounds wide range. addition, diffusion coefficient both ions forming IL samples using NMR-Dosy technique. spite being very similar from chemical point view, they present transport property values. Thus, viscosity varies more than two orders magnitude among those highest compound Al lowest that Hg. Moreover, differences between values extend order ILs. These three will be related pairs, thus through Walden’s rule compare molar fluidity, while Kohlrausch’s law Nerst-Einstein equation are related. Also, fluidity inverse viscosity) compared by means Stokes-Einstein relationship. calculate Laity interionic friction coefficients Finally, theoretical model is suggested to explain all evidences reported.

Solution and thermal behaviour of novel dicationic imidazolium ionic liquids.

A new class of functionalised dicationic ionic liquids, containing a central cationic unit capped by a basic functionality (imidazole), has been synthesised. These salts have been characterised in isotropic solution using proton and 2D-NMR spectroscopy, and their thermal stability has been studied by DSC and TGA. All these novel salts contain the 1-(1-imidazolylmethyl)-3,5-di{1-(3'-octylimidazo...

Tribological Properties of Ionic Liquids

An ionic liquid is a liquid salt consisting of anions and cations. Since Wilkes [1] synthesized a low melting point ionic liquid that is stable in air in 1992, there has been active fundamen‐ tal research and engineering development directed at applications. In the field of tribology, where application is focused toward lubricants, the number of related papers [3]-[28] has in‐ creased every yea...

NMR Characterization of Ionicity and Transport Properties for a Series of Diethylmethylamine Based Protic Ionic Liquids.

The ionicity and transport properties of a series of diethylmethylamine (DEMA) based protic ionic liquids (PILs) were characterized, principally utilizing nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR) spectroscopy. PILs were formed via the protonation of DEMA by an array of acids spanning a large range of acidities. A correlation between the (1)H chemical shift of the exchangeable proton and the acidity of ...
